Archbishops attack Blair over Iraq abuse

LONDON (Reuters) - Britain's most senior Anglican churchmen have delivered a harsh rebuke to Prime Minister Tony Blair over the behaviour of coalition troops in Iraq.

In a letter on behalf of all the Church of England's bishops, the Archbishops of Canterbury and York said the mistreatment of Iraqi prisoners was "deeply damaging" and would harm the credibility and moral authority of Western governments.

"The apparent breach of international law in relation to the treatment of Iraqi detainees has been deeply damaging," they wrote in the letter printed in Wednesday's Times newspaper. [And so, now we they are steering their their weekly gatherings]

How many letters are on record, that are "on behalf of all the Church of England".... bishops, that condemn Saddam and his regime for their atrocities? And yes, it was the business of this whole world to step in, because too many Iraqis were fleeing from Iraq with monstrous horrible claims that make decent people SHUDDER!  This is a good question!  What records exist in this world, that can prove those very same bishops collectively shuddered at the nightmare testimonies that escaped out of Iraq? --- and for 35 years? [35 years should produce A MOUNTAIN of letters of united condemnation from them]

"The appearance of double standards inevitably diminishes the credibility of Western governments with the people of Iraq and of the Islamic world more generally."  Didn't those bishops take on the responsibility of defending the Son of God when they perched themselves upon His Holy Reputation? Where is their love for the Son of God???  that they are more concerned about what Islam thinks...rather than what the God they say they represent thinks? Islam says the Son of God is an abomination. Where is their letter of UNIFIED condemnation for such a blasphemous teaching? What about their own 'double standards' that diminishes their credibility with the God they say they represent? [and have been given the power of a voice for it.  Woe unto them!]

They are hypocrites...for pointing fingers at others for a lesser crime!

1Jo 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.  Those same bishops who benefit because of the Son.....who refuse to defend The Word delivered by The Son... are serving a testament that they have robbed God. That is a greater crime! [Much will be required from them...because much was given to them]

A Downing Street spokesman confirmed the prime minister had received the letter, saying: "The archbishops are entitled to their views and the Prime Minister will reply in due course."

The United States is investigating a series of allegations of abuse, including sexual humiliation, of prisoners by the U.S. military in Iraq's Abu Ghraib jail. A series of gruesome photographs showing prisoners being humiliated and treated like dogs have been published in American and worldwide media.

Britain is also investigating alleged abuse of Iraqi detainees by its troops, including deaths of Iraqis in UK custody in the south of the country.

In their letter, drawn up after a meeting of more than 100 archbishops and bishops last week, the Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams and Archbishop of York David Hope warned Blair the sense of "moral shock" at prisoner abuse was wearing off.

"More fundamentally still, there is a wider risk to our own integrity if we no longer experience a sense of moral shock at the enormity of what appears to have been inflicted on those who were in the custody of Western security forces," they wrote.

"The credibility of coalition partners in advocating respect for the law and the peaceful resolution of disputes will, we fear, be undermined unless the necessary moral authority is clearly demonstrated at every level."

Foreign Secretary Jack Straw told reporters he had "a very high regard" for the churchmen's views.

"Our horror and rejection of what happened in Abu Ghraib prison -- which is run by the United States, I may say, not the United Kingdom -- is no different and no less profound than that of the bishops," he added.

"But it is also worth drawing attention to the fact that it is as a result of the action that we have taken in respect of Iraq that the tyranny and barbarity of Saddam has been ended and that the mass graves are now part of Iraq's tragic history."

The bishops also expressed concern about the lack of progress in resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and warned Blair that Britain's position as an "honest broker" between the two sides should not be jeopardised.

Upon what Spiritual Authority do they defend the name Palestine?  THERE IS NONE!

Isa 45:19 I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.

Psa 119:9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word.

Those who know the Lord of the Bible can see those bishops for what they really are:

Instigating fakes! who lead whole flocks of people by incitement for things they themselves desire.

Mat 7:15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Hsa 5:6 They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek the LORD; but they shall not find him; he hath withdrawn himself from them.

Joe 3:2 I will  gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.

Joe 3:4 Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine? will ye render me a recompence? and if ye recompense me, swiftly and speedily will I return your recompence upon your own head.

Zep 2:3 Seek ye the LORD, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the LORD'S anger.

Isa 14:31 Howl, O gate; cry, O city; thou, whole Palestina, art dissolved: for there shall come from the north a smoke, and none shall be alone in his appointed times.  If you support the name do not know the God of the Bible...nor the song of Moses...which the saints do 'sing'!

Mal 1:4 Whereas Edom saith, We are impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places; thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, and, The people against whom the LORD hath indignation for ever.

Hab 2:12 Woe to him that buildeth a town with blood, and stablisheth a city by iniquity! a city that has NO Spiritual Authorization.  Why have religions? What good are they if the people don't take to heart the things that are spoken to them?  Islam doesn't have a leg to stand upon when it comes to the name Palestine.  And the Bible condemned that name.

2Ti 2:19 The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.  [The beginning of wisdom is to fear the Lord...and to take heed to His Word!  He gave us a more sure Word of prophecy] So what is it, those bishops hope to accomplish? Peace?  [and so they say]  Woe unto them!.....

Mar 13:14 When ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not,  then a time of tribulation comes, a time of tribulation like no other time.  Only a remnant will be saved.... because God will shorten the days for His chosen.

Woe unto the wolves in sheep's clothing! The Truth that leads to Real Peace, which has the power to pull down powerful strongholds [and that by ''''a voice'''' willing to speak it]....was delivered to them....but they have chosen rather to fan flames that cause strife and bloodshed.
