Rewritten Bible banishes saints

For readers of the Bible confused by its archaic language, such as its use of the term "stoned" for a form of execution rather than the effects of smoking dope, help is at hand. {A perfect example of how the true meaning of the word 'stoned' - found in the Bible - has been lost]

One of the world's most widely read Bibles, the New International Version, has been modernised by a team of 15 American and British scholars and is published today.

Gone is the word "aliens", which the academics thought was invariably associated in the minds of the younger generation with extra-terrestrials. It is replaced with "foreigners".

Even the term "saints" is deemed to be too "ecclesiastical" and has been banished, to be replaced with "God's chosen people". The Virgin Mary is no longer "with child"; she is "pregnant".

And, to the dismay of traditionalists, who will suspect a feminist agenda, "inclusive" language has been introduced throughout.

Where the original read: "When God created Man, he made him in the likeness of God"; the new version says: "When God created human beings, he made them in the likeness of God."

For those unfamiliar with the punishments meted out in Biblical times to blasphemers and adulterers, the new version is also helpful, changing "Naboth has been stoned and is dead" to "Naboth has been stoned to death".

More than 45,000 changes - about seven per cent of the text - have been made. Even the title has been changed to Today's New International Version.

The new version has already caused a stir in the United States, however. Paige Patterson, a former president of the Southern Baptist Convention, said that the translators had gone beyond trying to clarify meaning.

"They have an agenda - to attempt to force egalitarian and even feminist perspectives on readers in the name of translation," he said.

But the scholars who worked on the book rejected the charges, saying that their changes were a fair reflection of the original Greek or Hebrew texts or updated colloquial English words.

If the 'scholars' have misunderstood the meaning of the word 'stoned' in the Bible - how can they translate any other part of the Bible?

Act 4:11 This is the stone [Jesus] which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

1Pe 2:8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

Rev 2:17 He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it.  {Jesus gives a new stone - one that this world does not know]

Mat 10:34 Think not that I [Jesus] am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.  A Spiritual Sword - which is The Word of God. It has power:

Jam 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

Mat 8:29 And, behold, they [devils] cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

Jesus never used violence to over-power the wicked spirits. He used the Word.

Rev 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life {the Book of the Lord]: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Zec 8:16 These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth

Mat 12:37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Psa 13:3 Consider and hear me, O LORD my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death. There is a death that is perpetual} Jer 51:39 { the second death. There was a death that reigned already} Rom 5:14

The Word of God has the power -  to 'stone' the wicked to death'. It is not physical - but spiritual -

Rev 12:12 Therefore rejoice, ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them. Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.

and the scholars of this world have rejected the Royal command:

2Ti 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Lev 24:16 He that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation - of God - shall certainly 'stone' him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the LORD, shall be put to death.

Jer 51:39 In their heat I will make their feasts, and I will make them drunken, that they may rejoice, and sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, saith the LORD.

Mat 13:49 So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels [not humans] shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just.

The Lord does not allow humans to slay each other. He never did:

Exd 20:13 Thou shalt not kill.

1Jo 3:15 ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

Zec 8:17 Let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the LORD.

Mal 3:6 I am the LORD, I change not
